The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-020 is an Ultra 5000 smart positioning driver. The driver is used to drive servo motors with high positioning accuracy. The AC input voltage of the driver is required to be 100-240Vrms, the operation is 1 phase, and the input frequency is 47-63 Hz. It provides 1.0 kW of output power at 115 VAC input and 2.0 kW at 230VAC input. In addition, the output current of the driver is 30A peak output current and 10A continuous output current.

Several factors must be considered when installing this smart positioning drive. As a control device, the drive must be installed in an IEC60529-compliant housing. It must be installed in a housing that provides a uniform, rigid, and vertical surface that is composed of shock-absorbing components and prevents the entry of particles and contaminants common in industrial applications. In addition, an ambient temperature of no more than 55° C (131° F) must be maintained. Install appropriate climate control equipment, such as a properly sized fan or heater, to maintain the desired temperature. Installation gaps must also be met to ensure proper airflow and sufficient working and servicing space. The required installation clearance is 12.7 mm or 0.5 inch. Side clearance and 50.8 mm or 2.0 inches. Top and bottom clearance.



Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-020 has A single-phase 100-240V AC input voltage, 18 A rms nominal input current, and 47-63 Hz AC input frequency. It has a continuous output current of 10A and a zero peak output peak current of 30A. At 230V AC input, it has a continuous power output of 2 kW and an energy absorption capacity of 51 joules. 

The 2098-IPD-020 Smart Positioning driver comes with an installation manual (Publication 2098-IN001), a screwdriver, two I/O connector plugs, and a clear plastic wiring strip cover. Plastic covers can be mounted on the power terminal block to provide a physical barrier and additional protection. The pluggable spring-clip 28-pin CN1A connector is used for digital I/O, while the 14-pin CN1B connector is used for auxiliary encoder and analog I/O signal connections.

The 230V AC 2098-IPD-020 servo driver is equipped with eight universal digital outputs, seven of which are transistor outputs, plus a relay output with normally open contacts. It should be noted that these transistor outputs have no overload protection. Within a group, these can be configured as current absorption (active at high levels) or current source (active at low levels). Its debugging and diagnostic tools are designed to optimize system performance and increase productivity.
