The Allen-Bradley 1756-L64 is a ControlLogix standard controller. It has 16 MB of user memory for data and logic and 478 kb of I/O memory. The optional CompactFlash memory card can be used as additional non-volatile memory for this controller. Please note that the only memory card compatible with the 1756-L64 is the 128 MB 1764-CF128 model. The 1756-L64 controller can handle up to 250 controller connections. It is worth mentioning that the scan time of loaded items in this controller may be slower compared to other 1756-L6x controllers that load the same items. It also fully supports controller redundancy.
The ControlLogix 5560 controller, like the 1756-L64 controller, has three controller tasks available, 100 programs/tasks, 32 tasks, and Event tasks: All event triggers. Serial port communications provided by this controller include DH-485, DF1 full/half duplex, DF1 radio modems, ASCII and Modbus via logic. The 1756-L64 controller also supports a variety of communication options, notably EtherNet/IP, Data Highway Plus, SynchLink, DeviceNet, ControlNet, remote I/O, and third-party process and device networking.
The 1756-L64 controller has a maximum digital I/O of 128,000, the same as its maximum total I/O. Its maximum analog I/O is 4000. The only ControlLogix cases compatible with this controller are the 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17. It also has a user replaceable battery, but it can only be replaced with a 1756-BA2 lithium battery, and only when needed. It has a vibration of 2 g at 10 to 500 Hz, a non-working shock of 50 g, and a working shock of 30 g.
The controller has a current consumption of 1200 mA at 5.1V DC and 14 mA at 24V DC. It also has a continuous isolation voltage of 30V (basic insulation type) and underwent a 60-second type test at 720V DC. The 1756-L64 has a power consumption of 3.5 W and a heat dissipation of 11.9 BTU/hr. The controller has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, while its storage temperature is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The maximum ambient air temperature of 1756-L64 is 60 degrees Celsius.
