1756-OA8 ControlLogix digital AC output module Supports timed output synchronization within 16.7 seconds

The 1756-OA8 module is a ControlLogix digital AC output module manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It has a voltage range of 120 to 240 volts AC at a frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz, and an operating voltage range of 74 to 265 volts AC at a frequency of 47 to 63 Hertz. It is compatible with Allen-Bradley 1756-TBNH and 1756-TBSH Detachable Terminal blocks (RTB), which are rated at 200 MA at 5.1 volts and 2 MA at 24 volts. The total backplane of the 1756-OA8 AC output module is rated at 1.07 watts. The output delay time (from off to on and on to off) is 9.3 ms at 60 Hz and 11 ms at 50 Hz.

The 1756-OA8 ControlLogix output module provides 8 outputs (4 points each for Group 0 and Group 1). Its "fault mode state" at each point and "program mode state" at each point can save the last state (for on-state and off state). At 60 degrees Celsius, each point is rated at 2 amps (linear derating) and each point is rated at 20 amps for 43 milliseconds of surge current (repeated every 2 seconds at 60 degrees Celsius). The 1756-OA8 ControlLogix output module has a maximum power rating of 5.1 watts (60 degrees Celsius), while its heat dissipation is 17.39 BTU/ hour. The slot width is 1 and the minimum load current per point is 10 mA. In the off state, the maximum leakage current of the module is 3 mA per point. The 1756-OA8 output module also supports synchronous timing output in 16.7 seconds.

The Allen-Bradley 1756-OA8 is an eight (8) channel discrete AC output module with two (2) I/O groups, each with four (4) channels. The module operates in a voltage range of 74 to 265 VAC and a frequency range of 47/63 Hz.

The idea of channel grouping is to allow the module to run each channel independently at different voltage levels, however, it should be AC voltage. In this way, one set can run at 120VAC while the other can run at 240VAC because there is no internal connection in the terminal common area. In addition, it provides isolation points during troubleshooting.

Compatible ControlLogix enclosures for this module 1756-A4, 1756/A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17. The module requires Allen-Bradley detachable Terminal (RTB). RTB is modular and provides an end point for a module. With RTB, signals can be easily connected without the need for an actual module. It also allows for quick module replacement if a module is defective, as it eliminates the rewiring task. The module supports local or remote I/O ControlLogix chassis installation, either as a standalone configuration or as part of a distributed I/O topology.

Output modules are used to power electrical components or loads, such as solenos, relays, indicators, alarms, horns, buzzers, alarm panels, motors, contactors, and other equipment. It is recommended to install an external fuse to provide module protection, as the module does not come with a fuse channel. The fuse size reference will depend on the current rating at each point.
